Some sites do this by maintaining an anonymous relationship between the buyer and seller with the site acting a middle man who does not complete the transaction until both the funds and the books are in the site's possession. This is certainly a dependable method, but it eliminates something that at GetSlabbed we consider not just fun, but essential to the hobby: communication between collectors.

Therefore, we've removed the anonymity, or at least allowed you the option to speak directly with the other party to a transaction you're considering. We've met some outstanding individuals in this hobby, and we'd like to facilitate all these great people getting to know one another better.

To make our system work, we only allow hand-selected sellers to offer their books on GetSlabbed. As the site is ready to grow and as we come to know and trust more collectors and dealers who have books they'd like to sell, then we'll add more sellers and hence make more awesome books available. A benefit to our method is that you can trust the individuals who are selling books on GetSlabbed. They're our friends, and we know our friends will treat all our fellow collectors and customers fairly and honestly.

Sellers on GetSlabbed.com pay an industry low 6% commission fee to the site for all their sales. Collectors or dealers who are not approved sellers may still consign their books to us. We will prepare a listing for the book and collect an 8% commission when the book sells. Consigned books must be shipped to us to be held until a sale is made. Consignors may set their own prices, but we insist on agreeing on the price before you deliver your book, and we hope you're open to some advice regarding pricing. Unsold books will be returned at the owner's request following a minimum three month listing period. Alternately, the owner may elect to continue the consignment or place to book in our next Power Auction, and GetSlabbed will collect only a 6% commission on the sale.
